The intercession of the Holy Spirit

The intercession of the Holy Spirit

All of the knowledge, wisdom, human ability and intelligence, mean little unless we are sustained by God especially in our infirmities. Scripture teaches us much about the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and its power of intercession. How does the Holy Spirit assist Jesus Christ's true followers to assist them when they pray to their Father in Heaven.

Seeing the old year out and the new year in

Seeing the old year out and the new year in

This time of the year is a festive season, with Christmas just passed and preparations for New Years’ eve celebrations next on the minds of many.

1st January 2018 starts a brand new year. The calendar is the time keeper for what we do in life. The calendar determines for us – those who use the Gregorian calendar - when we see the old year out, and the new year in.

But do we ever stop to give consideration as to how time began? For the Christian, whose foundation of belief is the Bible, we believe God created time.

It is Unmistakably the Season of Christmas.

It is Unmistakably the Season of Christmas.

Have you been looking forward to the Christmas Season with all the Christmas cheer this time of the year brings – Christmas light displays, Christmas songs in all the stores and shops or maybe the carols by candlelight? Would you be interested to learn more about the true meaning of Christmas? My wife and I some fifty years ago made the decision not to observe Christmas. Does this surprise you? We were raised in Christian families and Christmas had been a part of our religious celebration but we had taken for granted that Jesus Christ – our Lord and Saviour – was actually in Christmas.

Cleansing and renewal

Cleansing and renewal

The world is in the “bondage of corruption” and this is the environment in which we live.

However God promises salvation. He saves us through a process that takes time – a lifetime. As Christians, genuinely seeking to follow Christ, do we know fully what is this process and how we can participate in and embrace it?

The Miracles of Jesus – A Foretaste of God’s Coming Kingdom

Even those who are not Christians know of the many wonderful miracles performed by Jesus Christ throughout His human ministry which are recorded in the Bible. However, how many understand that these remarkable good deeds – which were too numerous for all to be recorded – demonstrate the kind of world He will lead as King of Kings and Lord of Lords in the coming Kingdom of God?

Where is God in our leadership?

Where is God in our leadership? by Bill Bradford

Where is God in our leadership?

God has specific criterion by which He interacts with humankind at a national and individual level. “....let him who glories, glory in this, that he knows and understands Me, that I am the Lord, exercising lovingkindness, judgement and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight, says the Lord”.” Jeremiah 9

These are some of the characteristics of God’s leadership. How about those who lead us – in our communities, across nations and the world?

What is Australia Day to you?

by Bruce Dean

What is Australia Day to you?

Is Australia Day nothing more than a day off work for you? Or a day to eat lamb on the barbie, or go to the cricket? It is much more than those things to most Australians. You’d agree that it is a time to reflect on who we are and why we have so many blessings. Have you heard of the amazing story of the rise to greatness of Australia which began some 4,000 years ago?

Full of possibility and hope

Have you ever been to the south coast of New Zealand? It is extraordinarily beautiful and has an ecology quite unique from other parts of the world. It was explained to us by a naturalist that the animals particularly in this area evolved and adapted to their environment. Evolutionary theory is a cop out for serious scientific analysis. We must remember that it was God who declare it ‘good’ at creation and will accomplish everything He plans to do.

A shadow of things to come

Are you amongst those who are genuinely seeking the truth or a church that is teaching the true beliefs of the Bible? Have you been challenged regarding the origin of christian festivals such as Christmas and Easter? You may have heard or read that these festivals were introduced into christian worship in Rome around the 4th century AD. Given their late establishment, this obviously meant that neither Jesus nor any of the apostles kept these days.

If so, then what days did they keep as festivals? What are the Festivals of God?

Scripture cannot be broken

Scripture cannot be broken by Bill Bradford

Scripture cannot be broken

The word of God is the same from Gen 1:1 to Rev 22:21. This is God’s story from beginning to end and it’s kind of hard to imagine that God, being God, changed things around and departed from his original plan. However people will read into it what they want, to give them the answers they want to hear.

There is a danger of not knowing the Word of God. How well do you know the God’s truth?

Fixed or growth - what's your mindset?

The two great mindsets of people -- the fixed mindset and the growth mindset. Remember the fallen

Remember the fallen by Reg Wright

Remember the fallen

From time to time, I have been asked questions from Christians who sincerely want to understand what the Bible teaches about war and therefore how should Christians think about war and the commemoration of war. They ask: Is it all right for a Christian to attend war memorial services such as those held on ANZAC Day.

What we can learn from war?

What we can learn from war? by Jenny Huthnance

What we can learn from war?

Memorial Day in the United States falls on May 27th, and here in Australia and New Zealand we remember the war dead on ANZAC Day – today - April 25th. ANZAC was the name given to the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps who landed on the Gallipoli Peninsula in Turkey on the morning of this day in 1915 during the First World War.

ANZAC Day calls to mind more than just that event in WW1. It was created to remember all who have sacrificed their lives in war. WHAT ARE THE LESSONS?

I chose you

I chose you by Bill Bradford

I chose you

Do you know that you didn’t choose God but He chose you?

To be chosen by God, is to be invited into His purpose, His care, His assurances - the past is forgiven and you are more than chosen, you are valued and respected as a child of God. Once we realize this magnificent truth then we also need to consider it in light of the meaning of the Passover.
